Jilin Wang, Chairman/President
Chairman of the Board, President of this Charity since October 2015. He was an IT System Consultant before his retirement, has over 20 years of Canadian working experiences of finance applications in the transportation and energy industries, the clients include CP Rail, Talisman Energy and Cenovus Energy. Before moving to Canada, he was a university lecturer in Jilin, China, and also worked as a software engineer with a Sino-Japanese joint venture in Tokyo, Japan. Jilin is honest, impartial and enthusiastic in public welfare. He contributes most his spare time in community services, actively volunteering for many not-for-profit organizations and charities, such as the president of Calgary Chinese Dongbei Association (2012-2019), the board director of Calgary Ringtorch Sport Association (2012-2019), the advisor of some NPO organizations, played a key role in supporting Calgary local societies and events.
Yuantao Di, Director
Director of Board, started volunteering for this charity since 2007. He is a devoted volunteer in the Chinese community. For more than 25 years, he has been involved in organizing numerous big events for Chinese cultural celebration and is well-known among the Chinese community. He is currently the Vice-President of Calgary Jiang Zhe Shanghai Association, a Vice President of Chinese Canadians for China’s Reunification (Calgary Association), a board member of United Calgary Chinese Association. He also serves as a consultant and honorary advisor in 6 other not-for-profit organizations. In the past, Yuantao served as a Vice President of Calgary Indo-China Ethnic Chinese Association and as the Principal of Chi Thanh Chinese School.
Lihan Zhang, Treasurer
Treasurer of the Board, she is a Chartered Professional Accountant with diverse experience across the public, private, and charitable sectors. She has held senior accounting roles and developed expertise in taxation, strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, economic analysis, and project management.
Sherry Xie, Secretary
Secretary of Board, Li (Sherry) Xie is an experienced financial reporting and accounting professional with over 18 years of expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and corporate administration. She currently serves as a Financial Reporting Analyst at Wesco Canada, where she prepares management reports, financial dashboards, and business performance analyses. Sherry holds an Accounting Degree from SAIT and has completed all CPA Preparatory Courses. She is highly proficient in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel. With exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to accountability and effective governance, Sherry brings valuable administrative, financial, and record-keeping expertise to support the Board of Directors and advance the mission of the organization.
Ailian Liu, Vice President
Vice President, and former Director of Board. She is the founder of the charity’s community service program—Loving Heart Food Distribution and Chinese Emotional Support Hotline. She holds a Master of Arts (Wuhan University) and a Master of Social Work (University of Calgary). She used to work at a few shelters and addiction treatment programs in Calgary. Currently she works as a hospital social worker. She also provides immigration consulting services. She firmly believes in social equity and justice and doing one’s best to the improvement of others and society. She has contributed a lot of time and energy volunteering. Before moving to Canada, s he was a university lecturer, assistant researcher and senior newspaper editor in China.
Jing Chen, COO
Chief Operating Officer and Program Manager of Chinese Emotional Support Hotline. She has been actively volunteering with ECSSEN Career School since 2017. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science at University of Toronto and a teaching degree at Nanjing Normal University. Jing has worked as a project manager with Weatherford Canada for over 7 years and taught natural science at Nanjing Foreign Language school for over 4 years. Mother of three teenagers, Jing is devoted to community services and passionate about youth development.
Landi yang, Director of Career Development
Director of Career Development. She has over 16-year working experiences at University of Calgary, as the Family Housing Services Coordinator in Residence Services. She is a professionally trained academic advisor and career coach, certified in Adult Education with a specialization in Academic Advising and Career Development from University of Calgary Continuing Education. She formally joined ECSSEN Career School in 2022, worked with Chinese Emotional Support Hotline team, and then transferred to Career Development team. She has been actively working hard in a professional manner, contributed her skills and knowledge, completed all tasks brilliantly.
Mengmeng Xiong, Program Manager
Program Manager of the Food Rescue Program and former Director of Accounting of ECSSEN Career School from November 2020 to September 2024.
She leads the planning, coordination, and implementation of initiatives that improve food security and increase access to nutritious meals for children with special needs, low-income families, seniors living alone, and other vulnerable members of the community. As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Meng has more than a decade of experience managing finance for large-scale LNG and energy projects in Canada. Since 2007, she has been actively involved in volunteer service and charitable work with non-profit organizations. She believes that combining professional expertise with compassion creates stronger, more sustainable communities and remains committed to advancing meaningful social impact through service, collaboration, and community engagement.
Ning Zhang, Program Manager
Program Manager of Youth Development Program, She worked for a private high school in Calgary as principal assistant and student service advisor. She likes communicating with young people; she is enthusiastic to support youth activities as a coordinator and foster their growth.
Advisors
Wei Huang, Advisor
Board Advisor since October 2015. She has many years of working experience (licensed) in the Canadian financial investment and insurance industry, used to be the regional lead. Currently she is the VP working with a realty and management company. In the past 10 years, as an advisor, she has been actively contributing her knowledge and skills to serve Calgary local communities, providing constructional advice, and played a key role in new not-for-profit organizations, society service development and management.
Cynthia Shi, Advisor
Former Director of Board and Vice President. She has been a super devoted volunteer for this charity since 2007. She is instrumental in developing programs such as Immigrant Possibility Scholarships and Bursaries, Special Needs Children’s Development, Employment Incubator, ECSSEN IgniteYouth Club, and Youth Science Programs . She graduated from the University of Calgary. She is a Registered Social Worker in Alberta with more than 15 years of working experience serving newcomers. Retired from Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association as a Settlement Counselor. Cynthia believes in contributing to the community through helping the vulnerable and serving career development needs for youth and immigrants. Cynthia has also been a board member of Calgary Jiang Zhe Shanghai Association for around 20 years, and the vice president of the Association for over 10 years.
